Description
Transparent PVC catheter with an effective length of approximately 50cm or 60cm. The catheter possesses a plastic vacuum control device at the proximal end. The distal end of the catheter possesses a terminal eye, 2 side holes, is available with or or without a flange and possesses a straight tip. The catheter is available in several Charriere sizes.

Method of use
A suction connecting tube and cannister are connected (see appropriate datacards) to a suction source. The end of the connecting tube is secured to the catheter. Foreign matter and pulmonary sectretions are removed from the respiritory pathways by advancing the catheter into the oropharynx or trachea directly or through an endotracheal or tracheostomy tube. Suction is applied and the catheter is gently rotated whilst being withdrawn. Using a rocking thumb technique, suction is controlled using a vacuum control device on the catheter or a device attached to the connecting tube.
Flanged tips are optional and are intended to prevent tissue grab by drawing air over the flange and into the side eyes to create a cushion of air to prevent the tip from contacting the walls of the airway. The flange is slightly larger than the shaft of the catheter and at this location, the size of the catheter is increased.
