Description
Also known as 'resting tab ECG electrodes' or 'Biotabs'. These are small ECG electrodes for 12 lead ECG, with the underside covered in a hydrogel adhesive. Solid and wet gel versions are available. Wet gel tab electrodes are thought to produce a better quality signal and are particularly useful on hairy skin and on patients with skin problems as the contact with skin is reduced in comparison to solid gel electrodes.
They are usually smallrectangular electrodes with a flap at the edge for attachment to leads. Adult and paediatric sizes are available.

Method of use
The peel-off backing is removed from the electrode, positioned on the patient, leads from the ECG machine areconnected to the non-adhesive flap at the edge of electrode bya wide-nosed clip. Monitoring with these tab electrodes is short term(e.g. 10 seconds).
When these electrodes are purchased, they must be supplied with wide-nosed clips
